Not to worry, we have an extensive list of top tourist destinations in Dubai and the activities to do there. There is a fine balance of new and old in Dubai, culminating in an array of stuff to do. You can decide to spend your mornings relaxed on Jumeirah Beach and your afternoons shredding powder at Ski Dubai. Or you can also decide to kick off your day at the conventional Gold and Spice Souks before using your credit card at the metropolitan Dubai Mall. However, the first thing is: get familiar with the city. Go right to the top of the Burj Khalifa (the highest rising building in the world) where you’ll find stunning views of the Persian Gulf. But if you’re more partial to a more conventional view, take a water taxi ride along the Dubai Creek. 1. The Burj Khalifa.    The Burj Khalifa is one of the many beautiful attractions in Dubai. It is the tallest building in the world. Kicking off our list of top tourist destinations in Dubai is the Burj Khalifa which is one of the most popular tourist spots in the United Arab Emirates. The Burj Khalifa is a key item on any Dubai roadmap. Standing 2,722 feet above the ground (that’s an amazing 160 stories), Burj Khalifa firmly holds the title of “world’s tallest building.” However, that’s not the only title this majestic this tower has under its belt. Burj Khalifa is additionally the highest free-standing structure in the world and host to the tallest open observation deck in the country. This simply means beautiful landscapes.  Gawk at the tallest building in the world in awe. Absolutely an achievement of engineering, the building is the conceptual heart and soul of the city of Dubai. Tourists are encouraged to take the elevator to the 124th level, promising breathtaking city landscapes all the way to the Persian Gulf. Specific telescopes often display city scenes from various points of time, enabling you to see any stage in Dubai’s past. You can also travel up to the 148th level, the highest observation deck in the country, but that’s going to cost you more.  Tourist reviews for Dubai’s tallest building in the world differ from one person to another. On one hand, tourists say that it is a must-see simply because of its world-famous difference, but on the other hand, some have found the attraction to be overpriced with gloomy landscapes.  Pro tip: Should you decide to take a ride to the summit, book in advance because they’re selling out fast. If you can, plan your tour for sunset: according to tourists, a spectacular view justifies the prolonged wait to the top  This majestic building, 828 m high, is constructed next to the Dubai Mall and has drawn tourists from all over the world since its completion in 2010. It stands above central Dubai and is within easy reach of Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Subway station. The unprecedented view of Burj Khalifa can be observed from not one but two observation decks–the two-story At the Top on the 124th and 125th levels, as well as the world’s highest observation deck (555 m) on the 148th level. You can buy tickets both online and on-site to the observation decks. You can access the observation floor at 8:30 a.m. To 10:00 p.m. daily (the last entry is 45 minutes before closing time). Admission rates vary on the time you leave, but general admission during off-peak hours is 135 dirhams (about $37) for adults and 100 dirhams (about $27) for children aged 4 to 12. To get to the 148th level, prices are available to form 370 dirhams (around $100) for adults and children alike. Take a tour of Burj Khalifa.

10 best beach Hotels you can find in the USA

Destinations,  Featured

I had recently published a top 10 list of the most amazing (and my favorite) beaches in the United States. There are plenty of things to do all season in the USA. From different types of beaches, you can visit with your partner or even your whole family. Some beaches are safer than others, and some are just more fun than the others. Sometimes, it could be the beach hotel that you decide to stay in that would make all the difference. Here are my top 10 picks from the best beach hotels in the country, with amenities and architecture that suit their stunning coastal climate. It should not come as a shock that most of these resorts are located where you would expect, with a sizable number of the beach hotels on the list being home to the sun-kissed states of California and Florida. I left Hawaii out of the list, as the magnificent Aloha State deserves its own top ten list 10 best beach Hotels in United States of America 1. The Peninsula, Chicago, IL Occupying prime land on the famous Magnificent Mile in Chicago, the Chicago Peninsula. The beach hotel blends the metropolitan elegance of Hong Kong with the sophistication of the Midwestern Windy City. Due to their creamy color palette and plush furniture, tourists portray the guest rooms as cozy. Not to mention their modern techie touches. Like a bedside remote-control station that controls lights, TV and room temperatures. Furthermore, the famous Peninsula Spa is alone in a class of its own: earning recognition from fitness and leisure publications for The Peninsula Chicago Hotel. This is another beautiful beach hotel in the United States. The afternoon tea served in the lobby bar, has been praised by tourists. They comment that it is a nice and welcome touch. This is one of the many perks of the beach hotel. Guests are advised to make room for the tasty Cantonese dishes offered at the Shanghai Terrace restaurant during their stay. However, for several tourists, it was the excellent service of the workers of The Peninsula Chicago that convinced them to prolong their stay there. Many will argue that The Peninsula in Chicago is one of the best beach hotels in the United States. 2. Hotel Del Coronado, San Diego, California Located on Coronado Island and steeped in history and romance, the Hotel del Coronado is the foremost oceanfront resort/beach hotel in San Diego with kilometers of white sand beaches and exquisite Victorian charm. The National Historic Landmark was built in 1888 and has now become a living legend of tours by celebrities, U.S. leaders and dignitaries from all over the globe. It is said that Frank Baum took his motivation for the Emerald City from the spiraling buildings of The Del and the iconic sitcom “Some Like it Hot” produced at The Del in 1958, featuring Marilyn Monroe. Hotel Coronado is one of the oldest beach hotels in this list, the rich history makes it one of the best hotel beaches in the United States. 3.  Watercolor Inn, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida The WatercolorInn, a hot family-friendly resort steeped in southern hospitality, tradition and beauty, makes you look beyond the sugar sands of Santa Rosa Bay, Florida. The beach hotel is positioned between the Gulf of Mexico and a coastal dune lake surrounded by a longleaf pine tree, on a breathtaking 500-acre property. Intelligently designed by architect David Rockwell and featuring a beautifully restored lobby, the hotel effortlessly blends the laid-back elegance of a historic beach house with a luxurious boutique hotel’s contemporary perks and indulgences. 4. Four Seasons Hotel, Chicago Past lodgers rave about the sophistication of this beach hotel on North Michigan Avenue and its beautiful location. Located just a few steps away from the Magnificent Mile of Chicago, the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago is central to all the top restaurants, stores, and nightlife in the metropolis. After you have successfully tested your credit card’s limits sufficiently, you can then go to one of the hotel’s soundproof spa treatment rooms for a relaxing massage or skin renewal treatment. Before you call it a night, past visitors of the hotel strongly recommend lounging for dinner in the dining room of the Allium, where diners are treated to fresh midwestern farm-to-table cuisine. When it’s time to go to bed, the well-appointed rooms at this Four Seasons hotel provide a luxurious refuge. Past visitors love the exquisite ambiance that combines modern fittings (such as flat-screen TVs) with accents of 20th-century design and spacious marble bathrooms. Past travelers suggest splurging on the lake view lodging instead of the city skyline display quarters. 5. The Cloisters at Sea Island, Georgia Sea Island is a private, five-mile-long shoreline Georgia resort island surrounded on the east by the Atlantic Ocean and divided by wide salt marshes on the west from St. Simons Island.  Located halfway between Savannah, Georgia and Jacksonville, Florida, it is a one-hour drive from the airports of both cities. The Cloister Hotel, an elegant and naturally beautiful resort, offers 195 guest rooms and suites in a wide range of styles providing unprecedented selection and versatility for individuals, parents, business groups, extended families and circles of friends who may meet at the same time. The versatility of the hotel is what makes it one of the best hotel beaches in the United States. 6. Acqualina Resort, Sunny Isles Beach, FL This Hotel resort does not take for granted any of its five stars, especially when it comes to providing high-quality customer service. Visitors can’t help but keep the nice comments coming: Tourists say the staff at the resort takes extra care to tailor every experience for each visitor. One concern you can encounter, however, is exclusivity. There are only 98 guest rooms and suites available at the ‘Acqualina Resort & Spa on the Beach’, so be sure to book early for a tour to Sunny Isles Beach. The rooms of the hotel are furnished with flat-screen TVs, personal balconies, double

In your bid to travel the world, you should make your journey an interesting one by adding some adventurous things to your bucket lists. Top 10 Countries You Should Have on Your Travel Bucket List Antarctica: This icy wilderness is earth’s southernmost continent which is in itself a country and state as it has none accorded to it even though it ranks number 5 in size, beating 2 other continents that have countries and states. This is because Antarctica is made up of about 98% water both in its liquid form and solid (ice) form. It can be rightly said that the walls of Antarctica consists of frozen water and the most fascinating thing about these ice walls is that they are not static. Before you begin to catch some chills, take a look at some of the bucket list of tourist attractions that will leave you freezing unless you take a dip in the hot spring at Deception Island. 1. Bucket list attractions in Antarctica include: a. ANTARCTIC PENINSULA First of all, your travel plan or itinerary should be mapped around the Antarctic Peninsula an extension of the Andes; the most popular landing spot as it is the closest point to South America but still separated by the notoriously rough, 1,000 kilometres wide Drake Passage which makes it even the more bucket list-worthy. Crossing the Drake Passage takes two days by boat or two hours by plane alternatively. Voyages often stop off at some of the fascinating islands along the way, which helps to break up the long cruise. Your expedition has just about begun as you could spot dozens of whales swimming around the cruise boats, and one of the region’s top predators the leopard seal hunting seals.  b. DRAKE PASSAGE If you go through this stretch of water between South America and Antarctica without a churn in your stomach then you have a fearless heart. The passage instigates a sense of adventure and dreads all at the same time as the boat manoeuvres through the wave of moving ice walls that come right at it threatening to enclose and suppress it. The best way to distract yourself from the dreadful rouse of gales and the sense of mounting excitement from the colossal icebergs during the two-day crossing by boat is to find something to watch and really watch it with full concentration, you would most definitely catch a glimpse of giant albatross from the deck or better yet join in the captivating wildlife and geography lectures.  c. FALKLAND ISLANDS AND KING GEORGE ISLAND Falkland is the windswept, wave-bashed biodiversity where you should expect to be followed by Commerson’s dolphins as you take a boat cruise. When you look around, you might also see some enormous albatross glide above and four species of penguins nest on the shoreline, shipwrecks and an unsettling whalebone arch. You should cap up your voyage with a tray of grilled fish and chips or send yourself fax or text from the red phone boxes.  King George Island is the largest island in Antarctica and its airfield is most often than not used by those wishing to avoid the rough Drake Passage crossing. Lying 120 kilometres to the south, close to one of the last outposts before reaching Antarctica, the South Shetlands are home to 16 research stations and the continent’s only hotel. This is one of the very few places in Antarctica where you feel at home at least with the sight of humans (researchers), it is however not rid of aquatic and semi-aquatic animals such as Penguins, gulls, cormorants, giant petrels, mosses and lichens.  d. LEMAIRE CHANNEL: This precarious channel made up of backdrop marrowy waters is sloped high above the waters stand some giant icebergs, glaciers and sheer cliffs, while humpback whales and sometimes orcas from the behemoths beneath. It is surely a gateway of unforgettable adventures. e. PORT LOCKROY:  This natural harbour located on Wiencke Island has served several purposes. It was originally used for whaling, then as a military base during the Second World War, it later served as a research station. It is currently a popular stop-off point for Antarctic itinerants and is being used as a historic site with a museum and post office. So when your Antarctic expedition takes you around Port Lockroy, do well to send yourself a postcard or mail with an Antarctica stamp on it for the record. f. ROSS SEA AND ICE SHELF IN SOUTH GEORGIA: In this desolate yet beautiful, remarkably remote the South Sandwich Islands which is the resting place of explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton is a 3,000 meters mountain ridge that discharges glaciers into sheltered harbours and serves as home to king penguins and enormous barking elephant seals.  The islands also feature volcanic Mount Michael as well as the about 3,700 meters high Mount

Adventurous Boat Cruise Across the Lagos Lagoon. Beautiful Pictures from Lagos Lagoon

Destinations,  Featured

Lagos State is blessed with lots of rivers, lakes, bay, lagoon, ocean, seas and the majestic Atlantic. I have been on a boat several times this year and I have always wondered what it will feel like to do a boat cruise along the Lagos lagoon. I have always wanted to see the beauties of the Lagos Atlantic and document every piece of it. There are a couple of Islands in Lagos which includes Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Lekki and Lagos Island, Ilashe, Inagbe etc and there are a couple of areas that share a boundary with the Lagos lagoon. Some of the popular areas are Apapa, Badagry, Ojo, Ajah, Lekki, Ikorodu, Iyana Oworo, Bariga, Yaba etc. I love anything water, nature, art and adventure and I have always dreamed of capturing the beautiful views from the Lagos Lagoon and the Atlantic. So I decided to hire a speed boat from a jetty in Ikoyi and off we set. Hiring a boat in Lagos is usually billed per hour and the cost is usually very high. In my quest to capture the beauty of the Lagos Lagoon the cost does not matter. We set out from a jetty in Ikoyi. This trip was supposed to last for two hours to reach all the major hubs on the Lagos Lagoon and I can assure you it was worth it. We touched base at the following places Top Places on the Island Ikoyi Victoria Island Lagos Island Some Part of Lekki Apapa Inagbe Grand Resort Ilashe And some other places I don’t even know their names A day on the Lagos Lagoon This trip was an eye-opener and it gave a clearer view of Lagos Island, When you are on the water it is a different view entirely. You get to understand the position and the navigation of places more. It also gives a clearer view of how different places connect within the island. We touched down and passed through some major landmarks and some notable places on the Island. Some of these locations include:Five Cowrie Terminal, Ikoyi: It is a modern terminal with state of the art facility to change the game of water transportation and to serve as a major water terminal in Lagos. 1. Civic Centre: It is an event centre located along Ozumba Mbadiwe opposite the 1004 estate. 2. Oriental Hotel: This is one of the most exotic hotels in Lagos overseeing the Lekki Epe expressway in the front and the Lagoon at the back. Black Diamond Hotel: This beautiful structure is owned by Mobil which serves as a hotel for their staff and expatriates Lekki Ikoyi Link Bridge: the Lekki Link bridge is an ultra-modern bridge that connects Lekki and Ikoyi Lagos Business District Marina Axis: This is Lagos Marina, a section of the Lagos business district overseeing the Lagos waterways. US Embassy: This United States embassy is located in Victoria Island but can be spotted from the Lagos lagoon The Nigerian naval Dock: We had a rare privilege to see the Nigerian naval docks where the Nigerian warships are parked The Nigerian Warships: We saw some of the Nigerian warships Oando Headquarters: There is a beautiful twin building along the Lagos coastline which is the Oando Headquarters in Victoria Island The Nigerian Ports: We also got a close view of the Nigerian ports from the waterside, It is one of the busiest seaports in Africa. Ship: We also got to see several ships coming to berth at the Lagos Port Third Mainland Bridge: We also sailed towards the third mainland bridge and got a lagoon view of the Third Mainland Bridge which is the longest bridge in West Africa and the second-longest in Africa measuring a 10.5 km in length. Carter bridge: This is another bridge that links Lagos Island and the MainlandNitel Tower: I also got a nice view of the Nitel Tower which is located on Broad Street, Lagos island The oil Rig: We also got a better view of the oil rig located in front of the lagoon opposite Marina 1004 Estates: From the lagoon, we also got to see the 1004 estates which are a block of unit flats numbering 1004 flats of two and three-bedroom flats. Oil tanks: We also got to see several oil tanks belonging to some of the biggest oil firms in Nigeria Vessels: We saw giant vessels some are as big as five to 10 storey building and It just makes you wonder how such giant vessels can float on water Dangote and Otedola Multi-Million dollar Yacht: Mansions Along the Lagoon Global warming is real I witnessed the effect of global warming in Lagos. I can see the rise in the water level and there has been a report that Lagos is sinking at a very fast rate and if nothing is done fast, Lagos might be submerged in a few years. some parts of Lagos Island and the water are on the same level

Destinations,  Featured

The statue of Liberty is one of the most iconic landmarks in the world. The statue of Liberty is one of the oldest and most popular statues in the world. The statue has been featured in several movies, music videos, documentaries and art museums. You must have seen the statue on screen or the media as growing child, the statue felt surreal and a part of the complex fictional and fantasy world Films are used to whipping up. However, the statue is very real and she is right there in Liberty Island, New York City. The Statue is quite ancient and has been around for over a century. The Statue of Liberty became a to UNESCO’s World Heritage Site in 1984.  What does the Statue of Liberty Symbolise The Statue is a symbol of freedom, independence, friendship and democracy. The Statue was a gift from France to the United States to celebrate the centenary of America’s independence. It is also referred to as the Crown of the lady Liberty. The crown has seven spikes which represent the seven seas which liberty should spread, in essence, it represents liberty for the world. Statue of liberty History  The history surrounding the Statue of Liberty is one of the many reasons why it is a popular top tourist destination in the United States. The historical statue was a gift from the people of France to the people of the United States. It is made of copper and was designed by the French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and its metal framework was done by Gustave Eiffel – the man that designed the Eiffel Tower and which the tower was named after.  It was modelled after the statue of the great Colossus that once located at the Greek island Rhodes. The statue was completed in 1884 after nine years of construction in Paris, France. The Statue was commissioned on October 28, 1886. France had aided the United States during the Revolutionary War. In 1865, the two nations held similar political views and circumstances, which prompted Edouard Rene Laboulaye to propose that France symbolized their alliance with the United States. The Statue The Statue stands at 151 feet tall with the pedestal it reaches a height of 305 feet. There is a staircase inside the Statue that leads to the crown. The stairs are 354 steps to the top of the crown. it weighs about 225 tons what does the statue of liberty represent  Torch – It represents Light shining on the Path to Liberty Crown – Symbolises Divinity Robe – Symbol of Liberty Spikes on Crown – The seven continents and oceans Windows in Crown – All the Gemstones on earth Broken Shackles – It represents Freedom from Oppression Tablet – Law establishment Facing Southeast – Welcoming Visitors to the United States  About the Statue of Liberty The Statue stands at 305 feet high that’s about 93 metres. The statue is the figure of a woman, holding a torch with her right hand on her left hand is Declaration of Independence for the United States of America which is 4th July 1776.  The torch is about 29 feet approximately 8.8 metres which can be accessed through a serviced ladder built inside the right hand which leads to the touch which has a platform that gives a 360 panoramic view of the City of New York.  The statue of Liberty is a top tourist attraction in the U.S because of so many reasons. One of them is a figure of Libertas, a dressed Roman liberty deity. She holds a torch with her right hand over her head together with her manus, and in her manus carries a tabula ansata inscribed in Roman numerals with “JULY IV MDCCLXXVI” (July four, 1776), the date of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. A broken shackle and chain lie at her feet as she walks forward. This is in respect of the then-recent national abolishment of slavery. The sculpture became an icon of freedom, especially for the United States. Soon enough it became a huge tourist attraction in the United States.  Also read: Why You Should Travel and Tour the world The Statue was made by France while the Pedestal was constructed by the United States Counterparts. The Pedestal was designed by an American architect named Richard Morris Hunt, the. The statue’s pedestal was constructed on the courtyard of Fort Wood which was a fortress built for the Civil War in 1812. It sits on fifty-eight acres of land (about 24 hectares) Bartholdi was stirred by a French law academician and politician, Édouard René Diamond State Laboulaye, is alleged to have stated in 1865; any monument raised to the United States independence would properly be a joint project of the French and U.S. people. thanks to the post-war instability in France. The sculptors did not start work on the statue till the first decade. In 1875, Laboulaye proposed that the French sponsor the sculpture and hence, the United States provide the location and build the pedestal.  This rich history is basically why some people travel to the other end of the world in New York City, Liberty Island. Visiting the Statue is no ordinary feat itself mostly because the Island is not accessible by every Dick and Harry. The rules on the Island are quite strict as The US Government sees the Statue as a monument to be preserved for generations to come; this is rightly so. You can’t get there on your own accord even in the unlikely case you have access to a ferry. On Liberty Island, berthing rules are stringent: your boat needs to be empowered to get there. Which is physically impossible because a private company has been given the concession. So, you have to go through the said company to have the pleasure of touring the Island and admiring the port. Going to the Island of Liberty It is the “Statue Cruises” society that is permitted to take you there. They have two departures: the

However, in 2012, the Oyo State Government under the leadership of Governor Abiola Ajimobi decided to give the Botanical Garden a facelift and it was renovated into a twenty-first-century park and garden. It was reopened to the general public in 2014 to convert it into a world-class tourist attraction and the number one relaxation spot in Ibadan. It was formally known as Agodi Zoological and Botanical Garden, it has since it’s reopening be renamed as Agodi Gardens. Our Agodi Gardens Experience It was a Tuesday we had set out from Lagos for a one week trip to visit all the major tourist sites in Ibadan. we arrived at Ibadan on Tuesday. We had our first tour on Wednesday, we visited the Captain Bowers Tower and Mapo Hall on Wednesday and our journey to Agodi Gardens began on Thursday. We moved from our hotel at Challenge Area of Ibadan and headed straight to the Oyo Government secretariat area and one thing we discovered was there are lots of roundabout in Ibadan and each roundabout has a statue. Everywhere around the Government area is beautiful and green and it makes you wonder why Ibadan was termed the brown roof city. Finally, we got to Agodi Gardens and we already fell in love with the lush gardens, beautiful scenery and the twenty-first-century amenities at Agodi gardens. We headed for the ticket area and it cost 500 per individual. Always go with cash do not rely on the cashless economy as they don’t accept transfers, the POS not reliable and the nearby ATM is far from Agodi Gardens. Then we were told our DSLR camera would not be allowed inside that we would have to drop it with the security at the gate. That didn’t go well with us, we wouldn’t dare risk our multi-million naira gadgets at the care of total strangers. We decided to stand our ground that we had phones that will do a good job and we wouldn’t use the camera. After a series of back and forth, we were allowed entrance into the facility. As we walked down the aisle we couldn’t believe this beautiful and well-maintained landscape is located somewhere in Ibadan. The water park facility was under maintenance when we went there. The zoo area is a no go area, The place was not well maintained that you would be wondering if it was part of the beautiful Agodi gardens. It was in a deplorable state and the few animals left look pale and hungry. Entering this zone might be at your own risk as it is bushy and not maintained with tall trees and weed growing everywhere. There was no tour guide or zookeeper around. Neither was there a description to tell you the entrance to the zoo. As a first-timer, you’d miss it because it doesn’t look anything like a zoo. The entrance to the place is not cultivated and you will have to walk through weeds into the zoo area. Caution should be taken when you go there. Badagry is a quiet and beautiful town with lots of history and it is also the home of Gberefu Island Point of No return. The Point of No Return is the original slave route to an unknown destination which is usually Europe or American where they serve as slaves.  History of Gberefu island The history of Gberefu island can be dated as far back as 1473 when it was opened as a slave port. Ever since it’s a grand opening, the Point of No return witnessed the influx of thousands of slaves from Africa to different parts of Europe The Gberefu Island is about 5 minutes boat ride from the Badagry Marina which features some of the top tourist attractions within Badagry. The Gberefu Island also known as the Point of no return is an iconic island during the slave trade era. This Island witnessed slaves from different West African countries. A journey to the Point of no Return will bring you up to date with the history of what happened over 400 years ago. You will better understand the history behind slavery and gain more insights into how the slave trade business run. It will also help you appreciate freedom and see the wickedness of humanity towards humanity. Badagry is home to so many tourist destinations and historical sites which can be dated as far back as the days of the colonial and slave trade rule. Journey to the Point of No Return The Journey to the Point of No Return, Gberefu Island, Badagry starts with taking a boat ride from the Badagry Slave Port on the Badagry Marina. The boat ride from the Badagry Slave Port is less than a 5 minutes boat ride to the Gberefu Island port. From The Gberefu jetty, the hiking begins where you will do a fifteen to thirty minutes walk along the original slave route down to the Point of no Return. Along the route is the Attenuation well. This is one of the major attractions of Gberefu Island. The Slavery – The History of Slavery in Gberefu Island The Slave journey usually starts from the Vlekete Slave market where slaves are auctioned. Slaves are usually people that are kidnapped, captured, prisoners or spoils of wars. They are usually bargained and sold to slave masters who then sell them in exchange for guns, umbrella, mirror, canons, ceramic plates and jugs, porcelain, wine, brass, kettles, gin, alcohol  etc The Journey usually begins from the Badagry Vlekete Slave market to the Seriki Barracoon where they are kept till the slave masters return to buy more slaves. Once the slave masters arrive and an agreement has been reached, then they take a boat ride across the lagoon to Gberefu Island where they have to walk with heavy chains tied around their necks, waists and legs. This is usually the hardest part of the journey because you could have up to 100 slaves being tied together using a single chain and made to walk long distance. This is done to prevent them from escaping. On the journey to the Point of No Return Lies the attenuation well where they will be forced to take a quick drink. Attenuation Well – Another School of Thought This is usually the final drink before heading into the ship. Legend and history have it that the Attenuation well has magical powers that will make anyone lose their memories when they drink of it. A school of thought explained this is why it is usually difficult for them to revolt or fight the slave masters during the trip since they outnumbered the slave masters since they. Another School of thought claimed the water was probably drugged with a substance that made them inactive during the journey making them weak to even revolt against the slave masters. This is usually because ships could take as high as 700 slaves which are only controlled by about ten to twenty slave masters.  Whichever it is it doesn’t take out the fact that the slaves are hypnotized during the trip and then regain consciousness when they get to their final destination. Then they are taken to the Point of No Return where they are shipped off to an unknown destination. Once they get to the destination, they are traded and sold again to farmers and other people who buy them for various purposes. They ended up serving their masters for the rest of their lives. Tour to The Point of No Return Your visit to Badagry will not be complete without visiting the Point of No Return. The journey starts by getting to the Badagry roundabout you will see the Drummer Boy Statue. Drive to the Badagry Marina where the slave Port is located. Then you will take a three minutes boat ride to Gberefu jetty which leads to the Original Slave route. Along the original slave route, lies Attenuation well, which is still in existence today. The La Campagne Tropica has something for you. If you are thinking of where to go in Lagos or Nigeria, this resort is the perfect place for you. My Experience at the La Campagne Tropicana I have been to the La Campagne Tropicana so many times. It was a lovely sunny Saturday and I decided to do La Campagne with some friends. We took off at Lekki Phase One and it was about an hour 30 minutes drive to La Campagne Tropicana. It is a straight drive on the Lekki Expressway until we made a right turn to the Lekki Free trade zone area. We passed through the Multi-billion dollar Dangote Refinery. We went all the way to the Newly constructed Lekki Deep Sea Port. Finally down to a coastal town called Ikegun. Ikegun is a quiet town located at Ibeju Lekki, an area of Lagos State just after the Dangote refinery. On entering the La Campagne Tropicana, we booked our tickets at the Resorts reception which is located outside the gates of the resort. On entering we were blown away by the African Inspired artworks and the African-themed settings. There are facilities for everything like games, fun, adventure etc Beautiful Resort in the Heart of Lagos Everything about La Campagne is African-inspired, from the ambience to the cottages, and even the cabanas. You will be welcomed in the traditional Yoruba way of greeting, while at it, the ever-ready waitresses are on stand-by to welcome you with a cup of palm wine. It won’t come in fancy cups like the beers from the local bar. It is served in a local calabash or cups. There are lots of African Inspired prints on display for sale. Feel free to go home with a souvenir. You will almost mistake it for the palace of a Traditional Nigerian King. They will brief you about the resort, the dos and don’ts, the rates etc. Then you are ushered into the main entrance. The resort also features some non-wildlife animals like monkey and goose who move around freely within the resort. They are harmless creatures looking for something to eat. La Campagne Tropicana Has its own Currency One of the most interesting part for me at the resort is that it has its own currency known as Pere. We got about ten Thousand Pere. One pere is equivalent to 1 naira. So to trade within the resort you will have to use Pere. We then headed straight to the gate. There were security men at the post who confirmed our tickets and checked us into the Resort shuttles that was already waiting to take us on one of the best moments of our lives. The view was amazing, this got to be one of the most amazing views I have seen in my entire life. A mixture of palm fronds and coconut trees is systematically arranged in sync gives the beach a lovely view. Then gradually as we move closer we began to hear the sounds of the turbulent waves. This has got to be the cleanest beach in Nigeria. They also claimed to have the longest ool in the world. Note There is no P in ool, the ool is a snake-like pool that stretches down the plain.
