This beach is the perfect place for a getaway, fun, relaxation and adventure. It is safe and easily accessible. Opening Hours The beach opens daily from Mondays to Sundays, including public holidays. The opening time is from 9 am and closing time is 10 pm. Location of Lekki Leisure Lake Lekki Leisure lake is located at Block 1, Plot 3, Okunda Blue Water Tourism Scheme, Lekki, Lagos State, Nigeria. It is just by the roundabout adjacent the Vantage Hotel and opposite the Daystar Christain Centre Lekki Church. Lekki Leisure Lake Gate Fee The gate fee to Lekki Leisure Lake range from One Thousand Naira (N1000) to One Thousand Five Hundred Naira (N1500) depending on the day you visit, On Saturday it is a flat rate of 1,000 Naira and free for Children below ten years, on Sunday, Public holidays and other special days it is N1,500 Naira per adult and N1,000 children under 10 years old. How to get to Lekki Leisure Lake Lekki Leisure lake is less than ten minutes drive from the popular Lekki Phase one. If you are coming from Victoria Island, Ikoyi, Lekki, mainland, you turn right at the second roundabout off the Lekki Epe Expressway. The first exit on the right by Pinnacle oil which leads to Remi Oluwude Street, drive to the end of the road, take the right turn and look out for the roundabout. The beach is just by the roundabout. List of All UNESCO World Heritage Sites Around the World The UNESCO World Heritage sites are a list of sites or landmarks around the World selected by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) due to their historical, cultural, traditional and scientific significance.  There are certain factors considered in choosing these destinations, the sites must have a common interest for humanity, the site must currently be a popular landmark in that country.  There are over One thousand of UNESCO World Heritage Sites scattered in different countries around the world and across the different continents. We all have a thousand and one reasons to travel the world but often don’t know where to go, you can add some of these places to your bucket lists. History of the World Heritage Site The UNESCO World Heritage sites were created in 1978 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) an arm of the United Nations to preserve the Worlds cultural, natural and historical heritage. These sites are not owned by the United Nations rather the United Nations serves as a Governing body to make sure they are well preserved from generations to generations. To get listed, The member state must apply and must be approved by UNESCO. Furthermore, UNESCO does not have the power to list a site without the approval of the host country. However, UNESCO has the power to delist a country from the World Heritage Site.  Getting listed in the UNESCO World Heritage sites is not as easy as you’d think, as the governing body responsible for selecting the sites meets yearly and only a few fractions of the list will be approved and listed. Different nations around the World lobby hard to get sites in their countries like monuments, historic ruins, tourist attraction sites, majestic buildings, listed on the UNESCO World Heritage sites. This will bring significant tourist income, awareness and it would generally improve the overall economic value of the presiding state. Criteria For Selection There are certain criteria the site must meet to be considered a UNESCO World Heritage sites. The site must be of outstanding universal value and must meet at least one out of the ten selection criteria. The site must be an already existing landmark and must have been submitted in the tentative list of World Heritage Sites. Below are the criteria that must be met for a site to be listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites 1. It must represent a masterpiece of human creative genius 2. Exhibit an important interchange of human values, over a span of time or within a cultural area of the world, on developments in architecture or technology, monumental arts, town-planning or landscape design; 3. Bear a unique or at least exceptional testimony to a cultural tradition or to a civilization which is living or which has disappeared; 4. It must be an outstanding example of a type of building, architectural or technological ensemble or landscape which illustrates (a) significant stage(s) in human history; 5. To be an outstanding example of a traditional human settlement, land-use, or sea-use which is representative of a culture (or cultures), or human interaction with the environment especially when it has become vulnerable under the impact of irreversible change; 6. It should be directly or tangibly associated with events or living traditions, with ideas, or with beliefs, with artistic and literary works of outstanding universal significance. (The Committee considers that this criterion should preferably be used in conjunction with other criteria); 7. It should contain superlative natural phenomena or areas of exceptional natural beauty and aesthetic importance; 8. to be outstanding examples representing major stages of earth’s history, including the record of life, significant on-going geological processes in the development of landforms, or significant geomorphic or physiographic features; 9. It should be outstanding examples representing significant on-going ecological and biological processes in the evolution and development of terrestrial, fresh water, coastal and marine ecosystems and communities of plants and animals; 10. to contain the most important and significant natural habitats for in-situ conservation of biological diversity, including those containing threatened species of outstanding universal value from the point of view of science or conservation. The partnership gave it a total upgrade and renovation of the facility. This partnership involves a re-build, re-design, finance, operate and transfer. Apapa Park can easily be mistaken for a place in Dubai or some Arabian country. The architecture, the ambience, the aesthetics are beautiful and there a number of games to play. The partnership was between the Lagos State Government and a Company Called Crystal Cubes Construction Company. This partnership led to the upgraded Apapa Amusement park in Lagos to bring back its lost glory of the number one family entertainment, relaxation and recreational centre. History of the Apapa Amusement park The Apapa Amusement park commenced operation in 1976 under the Lagos Lunar Park which was jointly owned by Lagos Island Council, Lagos mainland council and the Improjex, a company based in Switzerland who was responsible for managing and maintaining the park. Facilities at the Apapa Amusement Park The Apapa Amusement park is a family themed park with facilities for Adults and kids. Once you set in, you can get your tickets at the reception and wait at the waiting area, where you can watch the monkeys who often comes around to beg or steal from tourists. A tour guard will be attached to take you on the long wood walk which is perfect for that unforgettable romantic date with your loved one. Not forgetting the sweet fresh air void of dust and air pollution and most importantly the adrenaline rush you experience walking on the longest canopy walk in Africa. This is nature in its purest form. An unforgettable experience filled with fun, laughter, excitement, games and adventure. A Resort  or Natural reserve or a Conservation Centre? Some people often ask, is the Lekki Conservation Centre (LCC) a form of a resort or a natural reserve. The Lekki Conservation centre is a natural reserve that is they allows animals to move freely in their natural habitats without having to domesticate or lock them up in cages like the zoos. It is only open to tourists from 8:30am to 5pm daily. History of The Lekki Conservation Centre (LCC) The Lekki Conservation Center (LCC) was founded in 1990 and managed by the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF). The Nigerian Conservation Foundation is an environmental Non-Government Organisation (NGO) established in 1980 with the vision to make people prosper while living in harmony with nature. Where is Lekki Conservation Centre Located? The Lekki Conservation centre is located in the heart of Lekki just before the Second Lekki Toll gate opposite Chevron Lekki. KM 19, Lagos-Epe Express Way, by 2nd Toll Gate, Lekki, Lagos Opening Hours at LCC The Lekki conservation centre opens from 8:30am in the morning and closes at 5:00pm in the evening Mondays to Sunday including public holidays. Best time to visit the Lekki Conservation Centre The Lekki Conservation Centre is located in Lekki and some of its parts are prone to flooding and can also be waterlogged during the rainy season. So the best time to visit the nature park is during the dry season so you can maximize the whole fun the centre provides. However, you can still visit the conservation centre during the rainy season but make sure you are wearing comfortable water-resistant shoes and do not go on a rainy day as you may not have access to the canopy walk and some parts of the reserve. Adventurous things at the Lekki Conservation Centre Interesting Things to Do at the Lekki Conservation Centre There are lots of interesting things to do at the Lekki conservation centre which includes sightseeing, the canopy walk, climb the tree house on top of the tallest iroko tree at LCC, the swamp lookout station, games like a life-size chess, ludo, draught, snake and ladder , the koi and Tilapia fish ponds, the barbecue joint  and a coconut drink section. 1. Sight-Seeing: Enjoy nature at its best, viewing the beautiful greenery as you walk through the 2km elevated wood bridge. Enjoy the sight of animals like the monkeys, the birds etc in their natural habitats.  Also the swamp trees, the tall forest trees, the creeping creatures moving around and most importantly the beauty of the forest reserve. 2. Adventurous Walk on the Longest Canopy walk in Africa: The biggest attraction of visiting the Lekki Conservation Centre is the canopy walk. It is a suspended swinging bridge which is about 401 metres long which gives a dangling movement when you walk on it. It is the longest canopy walk in Africa and the second in the world. You get the adrenaline rush when you walk on it. On the highest peak of the canopy walk, you can see Victoria Island, Lekki, the Lagoon and of course the tree house. 3. Life-sized outdoor board games: Enjoy the life-sized board games which includes the chess, ludo. Snake and ladder, draught, 4. The trail boardwalk: The suspended Woodbridge was constructed in 1992 to serve as a tourist attraction and to also give tourist easy access in and out of the conservation centre. Enjoy the two-kilometre elevated walkway which leads in and out of the reserve. 5. Climb Tree House: The tree house is also a major attraction at LCC. It has an elevated ladder that you can climb to and fro. The tree house can only accommodate about 6 people at a time.  6.
